Potterycrafts Precipitated Barium Carbonate

Barium Carbonate (Precipitated) BaCO3 is used in casting slips (up to 0.5%) to prevent 'scumming' due to the presence of soluble salts. A flux in high temperature glazes it also produces matt and semi-matt surfaces at earthenware temperatures.
